Dalhousie University Early Admission (Now Open)

The application for early admission is now open! Until January 31st, Grade 12 students can apply for early admission into Dalhousie University.

we’ve assembled the answers to some of the most common questions about early admission. We hope this information helps prepare you for any questions you may get from students who are interested in applying to Dalhousie.

1. How do students apply for early admission?
During the early admission period, students will complete the online application for admission. On the application, they’ll be asked to self-report their final grades from Grade 11 as well as which courses they’ll be taking in Grade 12. The final step to complete the application will be to pay the $70 CAD application fee. For more detailed instructions on how to apply, visit

2. Do students have to submit Grade 12 official transcripts?
Official transcripts are not required during the early admission period. However, for current Grade 12 students, transcripts are required to be sent to Dalhousie’s Registrar’s Office at the end of first semester. Transcripts must come from a school official, from an official school email address.

Nova Scotia students who provide their provincial student number and Ontario students who provide their OUAC number do not have to submit transcripts, as we’ll receive them electronically.
3. How many programs can students apply for during the early admission period?
Students can apply for up to three programs on one application, however they will only be considered for their second and third choices if they are not admitted to their first choice.

4. How long will it take for students to receive an admission decision during the early admission period?

Generally, applicants will receive a decision within two to four weeks of submitting a complete application.
